FITNESS COMPETITION (Mrs. & Ms):   Aerobic Wear
May be any color, one or two piece, long or short, one or more pieces.
May not be a thong.
Tennis shoes, athletic or keds. Recommended color is white, recommended sock color white.
May not wear high-heel tennis shoes.

FITNESS COMPETITION (Teens):  Swimsuit
May be any color, one or two piece, shoes should be clear or the color of your skin.  A swimsuit wrap is required. 
34% figure, fitness, posture, confidence.  During your year as a state titleholder your schedule will be very demanding, being physical fit is a very important part of the competition. Try to take 15 minutes out of your day  to do something physical, even if it is taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

PRIVATE INTERVIEW (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen ):  Interview suit (May be a pantsuit or skirtsuit) or nice business style dress. 33% of your score is based on how well you show the judges your ability to articulate, show confidence, as well as your overall personality and appearance.  Many questions during your interview may come from your bio form.

EVENING GOWN (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen): floor length gown any color any style. 
33% of your score is based on your poise, posture and overall look, how well your carry yourself as well as how well your choice of gown compliments you.

OPENING NUMBER (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teens):  Will Be announced at the state workshop. The opening number will be simple, you do not have to be a dancer.

THEME (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen): To be announced

SCORING SYSTEM: (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen): 33% fitness, 33% evening gown, 34% private interview.  Olympic Scoring system is applied (high and low score is dropped and three remaining scores added).  Finalists are chosen and last round of on stage interviews are worth 10 points, which is added to final score.

WORKSHOP:   We will be providing a workshop to help our local titleholders prepare for the state competition.  The workshop is a valuable tool and can be worth thousands of dollars worth of knowledge in preparation for your quest to be your personal best.  Remember many of you will be interviewing for a job or organizations in the future and the valuable skills you will learn through this program is priceless.  We will provide you with contacts that will help you show your best, from gowns to photo's. You will get many of your important questions answered like: should I wear my hair up or down.  What color should I wear.  Am I walking correctly.  What are the key points to a good interview and many other questions that will help you be your personal best. (Please try not to miss the workshop it in invaluable.  There is no additional fees required for attendance).

APPEARANCES: (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen):  When you receive your banner it is time to make appearances.  Go to your local newspaper or Chamber of Commerce and find the local happenings in your community.  Select the things that fit into your schedule and that interest you.  It could be a parade, or Special Olympics or Grand Opening to a new business.  What ever it is, you will be a strong and positive addition to the event. 

BEHAVIOR: (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teens):  Showing your best means making sure that you are always on your best behavior.  Every situation in life will not be a perfect one, but we must do the best we can to any challenging situation into a successful event. Key points to follow:  (1) Dress appropriately, (2) always wear your banner, (3) always get appropriate directions and a contact person when setting up appearances, (4) always give correct information for publicity.  If you are not sure call the state office for assistance. (5)  Never complain, it only makes you look bad and can make us look bad too.  (6) Always follow up with a thank you note, telling the organizations what a wonderful time you had.

COMPOSITE CARDS: (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen):  Composite cards also know as Comp cards can be a very valuable tool and worth the small investment.  We recommend the 3 3/4  x 9 size because it fits nicely in an envelope and can be mailed easily.  Many people will ask you for one and getting it to them can be a major ordeal especially if it is an awkward size.  You should have a nice photo of you with your official banner and if you have purchased the official crown then you may where that as well.  No other crown or banner should be used.  Information that should be included on your composite card should be:  Your name, Title, State Pageant phone number, address and e-mail address.  Anyone wanting to book an appearance with you may call our office.  We will contact you and see if you are available to make the appearance.

STAFF: (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen):  Many of the staff are volunteers and are involved in this program with the goal of making this event an enjoyable experience for you and your families.  Please be courteous to them, they have a very tough job making the event go smoothly.  If you need help please call the state office at 561 837-2669 and we will have one of our staff members get back with the appropriate help.

ADS: (Mrs., Ms., Teens, Jr. Teen):  Ads and Layout are as follows: Ads are a nice way to showcase yourself, your title and the support of your community.  There are no restrictions on how many ads you have above the required.

JUDGES:  We take a great deal of pride in selecting our judges.  This is a very important job and we take it very seriously. The type of judges we select have been selected based on their credentials and their ability to select a person that is the best choice based on the overall performance of the contestant.  The women selected will be  the best representative of all the contestants that have competed that year.

SPONSORSHIP:  Entrance fee can be paid by the contestant or may be paid by sponsors.  What does a sponsor get in return for giving you money for your entrance fee.  This is up to you.  The best way is by doing an appearance or appearances in exchange.  Most business would have to pay a model for appearances, why not you.  You can model clothing, sign composite cards, greet people at the door, etc.

PLAT FORM:  A platform is something you do for someone or group that means a lot to you.  Do I have to have a platform:  No you do not have to have a platform.  It is always nice to do nice things in your community and there are many ways to do that.  Volunteering in anyway on an ongoing bases can be considered a platform.

WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED:  You need to get your application in with your $50.00 application fee & Photo.  Everyone competing in the state competition will represent the area that they live.  There is a lot of pride representing your city in the state event and we are proud of you.  After we receive  your application additional paperwork will follow that you will need to fill out for the state event.

WHAT IF I NEED HELP: Everyone needs help from time to time.  Someone is always available.  If you are unable to reach someone, leave us a message and one of our staff will return your call and will help you.   Remember the workshop that we provide is priceless, don't miss it.

TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE WORKSHOP:   Tickets can be bought in advance or at the door during the week of the pageant.  Only cash will be accepted at the door during the week of the pageant.

PHOTO: Everyone needs to send a photo with their application.  Can I change my headshot.  Yes, you may change your headshot as long as it is turned in before April 1st.

AWARDS:  The following awards are presented:  Non finalist Fitness, Non finalist Evening Gown, Non finalist Interview.  (Non finalist awards are given to those who have earned the highest score not in the finalists), Photogenic Competition, Highest ticket sales award, Sales Executive Award, Directors award, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st runner ups, winner.  Some additional awards are given to specific pageants.
